I have a norstar telephone system at home. I have 7 sets on the system.?
I want to add a portable wireless telephone to use outdoors. I purchased a telephone, but when I put it in the jack (the same one that my norstar tel works on), the portable unit does not give me a dial tone. The tel technician checked the wiring in the jack and says it is ok. What else can I do to get this to work?

Your Norstar system probably requires use of digital handsets. To use a "normal" (regular phone line) cordless, you need to convert that signal to analog. Nortel makes a device called an "analog terminal adapter" that does exactly that. You will need to plug in the "ATA" between the digital phone jack and your cordless phone.
